In 2021, China announced the goal of eliminating poverty has been achieved. While the world continues to face the COVID-19 crisis, China has also managed to overcome the pandemic and has been the only major economy in the world to have registered robust economic recovery. China is also on course to become a high-income economy within a few years, having already achieved the target of becoming a “moderately well-off society” (xiaokang shehui). The many achievements of China’s governance offer important lessons for other developing countries such as Malaysia. This conference henceforth would invite scholars both internationally and from within Malaysia to discuss and analyze the experiences of China’s governance and the lessons it offers.
