Both the United States and China now have leaders who are a departure from recent decades. Domestic politics in each country are creating great pressures on the foreign policies of Beijing and Washington. The geopolitical situation globally and regionally is changing dramatically. In addition, major bilateral and multilateral negotiations in the trade and security areas are unfolding.
